Dunescapes

Many of us know and love sand dunes as beautiful coastal landscapes, but you might not have known how important they are. They’re not only biodiversity hotspots but sand dunes play a huge role in coastal protection.

The purpose of the course was to equip the general public, volunteers, and site managers for the Dynamic Dunescapes project with all the information they need to help restore and rejuvinate our coastal dunes.

The project is a partnership between Natural England, Plantlife, the National Trust, Natural Resources Wales and the Wildlife Trusts, and us supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and the EU LIFE Programme.

Two courses were created as part of this project. One for the general public, which walked through the basics of dunes, what the threats are, and what they could do to help. The second was targetted at site managers to help equip them with the information and knowledge to acieve successful public engagement.

The content was developed from two manuals to help the information be a more engaging learning experience. The course was also translated into Welsh which we facillitated the build of.

Animation Rise360, video editing, infographic development, illustration, translation build.

The courses are free and available to all. If you wish to explore our work, you can do so at these links:
